You can apply a combination of these rules / tips to solve a hexagonal battleship puzzle.

Direct Rules

• All cells are water
• Fill around adjacent ship segments
• All cells are ship segments
• No Illegal shape
• Only place for the largest ship remains to be placed
• Overlapping positions found when trying to place the largest ship remaining
• Overlapping positions found when trying to place all ships of one type

Contradictions:
When you cannot apply an easy rule, you can make an assumption and disprove that.

• An Illegal shape is forced.
• A ship Larger than the Battleship(or cruiser) is forced
• More ships of one type is forced
• Not enough free cells for a line to place the ship segments
• No place for the largest ship remaining
